Only a teacher can add a ringer to the Learning the Ropes (LtR) scheme.
Before you start, ensure your ringers have completed a Permission to Ring form, which enables you to confirm their consent to add their data to SmART Ringer. New logbooks now have a pull-out form in the centre of the book. If you have an older version of the logbook, you can download a copy of the form (for free) from the ART online shop.
You add a new ringer in the My Ringers area of SmART Ringer:
- Click on the My Ringers button on the home page of SmART Ringer.
- Click on the Add Ringer button.
- Complete the form using the completed Permission to Ring form.
- If you are adding a child or vulnerable adult, you will be asked to complete some additional fields – move information is available here.
- Click on the Save button if you wish to save your data but need to come back to it later to complete the form.
- Click on the Save and Submit button when you wish to submit the ringer for addition to SmART Ringer.
The information that you have entered is passed onto the ART Administrator who will manually check it and add your ringer to the database. They will then appear on your Current ringers list and you will be able to record level passes and request certificates for them as they progress.
Once added they will receive their own SmART Ringer login details. Please let them know that you’ve registered them on SmART Ringer. They will receive a SmART Ringer login email and it is useful if they know what it is about and it is not a surprise.
