Lucas learnt to ring as a teenager for his Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and was soon hooked, attending practices across his local area before heading into London for twelve-bell ringing. He represented his county at the Ringing World National Youth Contest for three consecutive years.
At university, Lucas began ringing more regularly and developed his method ringing and striking – although there is still plenty of room for improvement! He also took over the running of the university society. Over two years, he helped revive the society by recruiting more than 20 new ringers, ten of whom rang a quarter peal within six months of beginning to learn.
Lucas has joined the ART Management Committee, where he is responsible for the ART University Recruitment Package and other initiatives supporting young ringers.
