I have just completed the day course for ART’s 2F Module, learning to teach ‘From Rounds to Plain Hunt’ at St Mary’s Church Lytchett Matravers, Dorset. There were 11 of us, we were at all different levels of ringing, from all over Southern England and we were all keen to learn how we can teach and help others progress, through the fun ways of ‘Learning the Ropes’ that ART offers.
Claire, our course tutor, immediately put us at ease and we were warmly welcomed with a hot drink and given a comprehensive pack containing log books, a teacher guide book, wall charts and learning sheets. The day was very informative and offered a good balance of theory and practical. It was also fun and by the end of the day, we had been given the confidence we needed, to move forward as teachers and to be able to implement the ART ways of improving ringing, for ourselves and for others. It was so useful to be able to immediately put the theory we were learning into practice on the bells and we all finished the day with much excitement and enthusiasm.
The day was enhanced with plentiful supplies of drinks and a really delicious lunch, thank you so much to Jane and Nigel Pridmore for this.
Thank you so much too, to Claire, for making the day so interesting. Her vast experience in teaching was invaluable, with all the tips she passed on to us, as well as all the teaching skills we were shown. As ‘teachers’, we have also learnt that we will now be able to access the ART websites for even more information, so we now have plenty of tools to put to good use and we very much look forward to sharing these with all ringers in the future.
