Our Annual General Meeting was held on 23 March 2024. Here is a draft copy of the minutes from that meeting.
Subscription fee for 2024-2025
The Management Committee recommended that the membership subscription should be increased to £15 from 2024-25.
At the meeting I explained the reason for the increase was due to inflation, the increased costs of running the charity and noted that the subscription had not increased since ART was formed in 2012. This year we will be running at a deficit, and while the increase will not cover all of this deficit, it will help address some of it.
The motion to increase the subscription to £15, was accepted.
We realise one of the challenges ART faces with collecting the subscription is that over 50% of members pay by standing order, which can only be changed by the payee. Some members will have already paid their subscription for 2024-25 and for others their standing order will be actioned in the next few days. It was therefore agreed, for those members who had already paid for 2024-25 or have an existing standing order to do so in April, that their subscription could remain at £5 for 2024-25 and they would not be asked for the extra subscription cost. For all members, when they renew their membership for 2025-26, it would be at £15.
If you have already paid your £5 subscription but would like to make a top-up donation to ART for your 2024-25 subscription we would be very grateful and this would allow us to reduce the forecast deficit for this year. Details of how to do this are provided below:

Your donation will be gift aided automatically if we already hold a completed gift aid form (most tax-paying members will have completed one on joining). We are now looking at introducing a more automated solution to collect and account for member subscriptions, which we aim to have in place before the 2025-26 subscriptions are due to be collected.
Changes to the ART Constitution
I explained at the meeting that these proposals follow a period of debate and discussion within the Management Committee and the Trustees.
It was proposed to remove the two categories of membership: Associate and Tutor. The Tutor category has become obsolete, as all tutors now need to be Associate or Full Members prior to becoming a tutor and there are no constitutional differences between such members and tutor members. The removal of the Associate, non-voting, category was proposed to ensure that all ringers who aspire to improve the quality of their teaching though attendance at an ART day course and subsequent assessment of their teaching can feel that the Association values their contribution and commitment to ART and its objectives.
The motion to change the ART constitution was accepted.
The revised constitution can be found on our website:

If you are currently an Associate or Tutor member, the change to your membership category will be actioned as part of the switch-over to SmART Ringer v2 later this year. We will not be updating the current version of SmART Ringer with this information.
Vote of thanks to retiring officers Leslie Boyce and Paul Lewis.
At the AGM I thanked Les Boyce and Paul Lewis for their service to ART over the past years. Les was one of the founder members of ART and, as both a member of the Management Committee and latterly as a Trustee, has provided wise council and a steady hand while ART has developed. Paul has been a key member of the Management Committee, pivotal in the establishment of high standards and has overseen the standards committee. We are grateful that both will continue to support ART, as they will carry on their work as Tutors. Les will continue in his role as Data Protection Adviser and Paul will continue to serve on the standards committee, now led by Dee Smith.
