The Oxford University Society was very grateful to receive an ART M1 course on Sunday 21st January 2024. This is now the second ART course the society has received, a promising start to hopefully making it an annual event to maintain the number, and quality of teachers for the society. This is important to us because of
the high throughput we have of learners, as well as teachers, with many people graduating each year. We are very thankful to ART for sponsoring our members through this course, making it financially much more accessible to us.
A note on organisation: don’t try to organise an ART course on a Sunday! In retrospect I should have seen this coming, but the church was busy for almost all of the day due to numerous services taking place. This resulted in a small-ish window for us to fit the practical side of the course into. We made do by booking multiple conference rooms at different Oxford colleges before and after the practical sessions to host the more theoretical based sessions. This was a viable solution, but not one that I’d like to organise again in a hurry. Throughout this organisation process, Nick, our ART Tutor for the day, was exceptionally flexible and willing to accommodate this “more complex than average” plan – thank you Nick!
Overall the course was enjoyed by its participants, many of whom have since completed their first lessons with great success. Thanks to Nick, and the other ART people, who helped make this day a success.
