Highly Recommended
Despite an early start driving through wet, windy weather, I had high hopes for this day and had been looking forward to it for some time. I was not disappointed.
St Michael’s Church in Workington is an excellent training venue. On arrival we were warmly welcomed by Eric Martin who ensured there were adequate refreshments available throughout the day. Having a conference room and a ringing room enabled the theory and practical sessions to be delivered in comfort. Under the expert supervision of Andrew Slade, we were taught a wide range of teaching techniques aimed at developing both learner and teacher in a relaxed, supportive environment.
The benefit of attending a training course like this is also a meeting of likeminded people: fellow campanologists all happy to share their own bellringing journeys. With invitations extended to all, I look forward to seeing them again in the not-to-distant future in their towers and/or mine.
Finally, I would like to thank Sue Thomas for the excellent communication: the where, who and when regarding this training course was clear and timely. The homemade quiche and cake were also greatly appreciated!
